Disable commenting? No, no, no! This is what you get when you go to someone who doesn’t understand blogging. Let’s face it, most bloggers would have more self esteem problems with their comments off. How else do you know that people are reading.
Maybe he should have told the patient to quit posting THOSE pictures instead. Or maybe I’m just nuts.

At least for some people. I’m pretty good with them or so I like to think. So I had to laugh at this long list of computer stupidities.
Here’s one of my favorites:
I was working at a help desk, and, thankfully, my co-worker took this particular call. A man nervously called saying that he couldn’t print his proposal due out that day, because WordPerfect was reporting an error that his fonts were missing. My co-worker told the gentleman that we’d send somebody right up. Apparently there was quite a back log, though, and no one could get there fast enough for him. He had continually called throughout the day asking for his call to be expedited. Finally, at the end of the day, his secretary called and asked, urgently, “Could you PLEASE send somebody up as quickly as possible? He opened the computer with a screwdriver and is looking for his missing fonts.”

Just found this and knew it was a must-share. Star Trek’s The Trouble with Tribbles done in lolcat style. Beautifully done. That is, if you enjoy the lolcat style.
If you aren’t familiar with the term lolcats, don’t worry. I’d seen them around but not heard the name before. They’re the pictures of cats with humorous captions and generally mangled English. I find them quite entertaining, and I stay away from sites collecting them as much as possible to avoid losing too much time to reading them.

This says so much about what people do and don’t know about computers. Either that or it says a lot about how curious people are.
A computer specialist named Didier Stevens put an ad up through Google AdWords offering a free virus to uninfected computers. People did actually click on the link. It was an experiment, of course, to see what people would do.
I have to admit though, if I had seen the ad I would have been tempted to click just to see what the trick was. I don’t know that I would have believed that I would really get infected, which of course people did not. And knowing that any problems would likely have been noticed by Google would have reassured me that it was a joke.
Then again, maybe I would have tried it on my husband’s computer rather than mine. Hmm….

Some parents have no sense about what to name their children. On the plus side, it means we get lists such as 10 of the Worst Names Ever.
I haven’t met any of these names personally, although my grandmother says she used to work with a woman who had a really bad name that isn’t on the list - Ima Pigg. Siblings Hesa and Ura (not sure of spelling).
Then there’s I guy I know name of Richard, last name Merrimee. He had a lot of fun introducing himself to women.
I found a really cute “Make Your Own Bush Speech” generator on another site. It works rather like those refrigerator magnets where you take words and phrases to make poetry or utter nonsense.
You can decide for yourself if President Bush’s speeches qualify as either.
Once you’ve created the speech, hit play and listen. It’s good for a quick laugh.
