This Shrink’s a Quack!

Shrinking Self Esteem

Disable commenting? No, no, no! This is what you get when you go to someone who doesn’t understand blogging. Let’s face it, most bloggers would have more self esteem problems with their comments off. How else do you know that people are reading.

Maybe he should have told the patient to quit posting THOSE pictures instead. Or maybe I’m just nuts.

The Delight of Being Random

I love taking time as I work online to get a little random. There’s so many things to discover online, and if you take your entire day too seriously you miss it. Of course, the catch is that if you spend too much time following random links your entire day vanishes.

But how do you find random things? It really isn’t all that easy. Read the rest of this entry »

Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Mo!

Hopefully you can come up with a better way to pick a blog to vote for than that! Because PayPerPost is sponsoring the Blogger’s Choice web awards, and I’d love to see what happens.

I count over 30 categories for blogs to be nominated to, so if you blog there’s a good chance you can find a good category for it. Or you can always pick your favorite and nomiate someone else’s blog. You can add your own comments to nominated blogs as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Never Take Your Blogging Freedoms for Granted

In the United States, we take freedom of the press and freedom of speech pretty much for granted. Some may argue that we are more limited than we should be, but that’s an entirely different arguement than the one I’m looking at today.

There’s a report on Wired about an Egyptian blogger, Abdel Kareem Nabil, being sentenced to 4 years in prison for insulting Islam in his blog. To any self respecting blogger, that’s a pretty terrible thing to see.

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know anything about what he actually said or the accuracy of his statements. But he should have the right to express his opinion! Read the rest of this entry »

The Challenge of Coming Up with Random Chatter

It’s funny how these things go. I started this blog because it sounded like fun to blog about all the random stuff I think about while working on my other blogs. May as well get it out of my head, right?

But doing it deliberately is much harder than accidentally. I can still think of stuff, like grumbling about how hard it is to think of stuff, but it’s not as easy as I hoped.

No, I’m not giving up or anything. Just mentioning a bit about how frustrating it can be getting into the routine of a new blog.

Let’s Get This Thing Started

This is going to be the random, potentially fun blog for me. No idea where all I’ll be taking things, so I did a random train of thought for initial categories. No doubt I’ll be adding to them over time.

Expect site and product reviews, wandering through my favorite geek technology and toys. I’ll talk about life, stuff happening in the world… whatever catches my eye when I’m writing for this blog.
