Thursday Thirteen - 13 Favorite Treats

Snacking is just so much fun, so I thought I would share some of my favorite snacks. Don’t worry, I do control how much I eat, or I’d be huge by now.

Don’t read if you’re about to go to the store. Wouldn’t want to tempt you too much!

  1. Dark chocolate. A good quality 70% cocoa chocolate bar is probably my favorite. Expensive, but worth it since a small amount is highly satisfying.
  2. Chocolate bar with raspberries. This one is a bit harder to find. Ghirardelli used to make a marvelous one with dried raspberries mixed into the chocolate, rather than the filling, but apparently that one was really rough on their machinery.
  3. Strawberries. Hey, they’re available now and reasonably healthy. Can’t live on junk food alone!
  4. Chocolate silk pie. Yes, there is a theme here. I’m a chocoholic!
  5. Peeps. Easter is over and they’re vanishing rapidly, but I do so enjoy a lightly stale Peep. Just can’t eat too many of them.
  6. Chocolate cake. With chocolate frosting, of course.
  7. Good jelly beans. Not the cheap ones, but ones such as Jelly Bellies, Jolly Rancher jelly beans and so forth.
  8. Artichokes. Expensive much of the year, but ever so good! But when I think of how much butter is in the dipping sauce, it’s a good thing I don’t eat them too often.
  9. Cheetos. A really odd one for me since there aren’t many kinds of cheese I like, but for some reason these ones work. One of those foods I try not to think about what they’re made of when I eat them, though.
  10. Chocolate chip meringues. I make these myself, and they’re a bit addicting. Probably my healthiest chocolate snack.
  11. Lemon meringue pie. Mmmmmmm… and yes, I make it myself. Very, very rarely.
  12. Ferrero Rocher hazelnut chocolates. Good and fun to eat.
  13. Did I mention dark chocolate? Oh well, running low on ideas anyhow.

I think I gained 10 pounds just typing this one up. Good thing I keep my actual consumption of many of these to a minimum. It’s hard enough keeping fit anyhow.

Mmmm. Chocolate. I just finished an after-dinner peanut butter cup.

I’m with you on the Cheetos, too. I think it’s the salt.

    Happy TT!
