Supersize Who?

You’ve probably heard about that movie “Supersize Me” about the person who eats only at McDonald’s for a month and gains a lot of weight. Now a Swedish researcher has done the same and guess what? Not everyone gains the same, even when subjected to the same rules.

Now, I would first like to reiterate a point one person made in the comments, that Swedish McDonald’s is quite different from American. Even the sodas are different. I would also note that only 18 people participated, which is not exactly an ideal study size.

One volunteer did gain 15 pounds, but others only gained a little.

This just goes to show that some problems come simply of how your body deals with what you put into it. That’s why some can eat terrible, high fat food and still be slender while others battle to reach a healthy weight despite trying to eat healthy foods.

Personally, I very rarely eat at McDonalds, despite having a 4 year old daughter who loves their food. I just don’t enjoy eating most greasy foods. I’ve found that the best way to learn to not crave such foods is to steadily cut back on them. I did that with my husband, the man with the classic bachelor’s attitude toward fried foods, and now he doesn’t like them nearly so much.
