Oh, Give Me a Home, Where Old Computers Roam!

What have you done with your old computers? I don’t just mean that three year old XP machine you just traded up for a Windows Vista machine. I’m talking OLD computers.

Of course, old in computer terms doesn’t mean nearly the same as old does for other antiques. They haven’t been around long enough, and most especially, haven’t been in common use long enough for old computers to be as old as most antiques. But there are collectors, and they can be valuable.

Just think about how computers have changed in your lifetime. I went to high school when having access in the classroom to computers hooked to a mainframe was a big deal. That my school offered programming classes in BASIC, FORTRAN and Pascal was a huge deal.

Yes, you can stop laughing now. Even if I do remember using our old Vic 20 hooked up to the television set and storing everything on tape.

I just find it interesting seeing how these things have changed. It’s beyond going from DOS to Windows. It’s all the options that never made it.
