My Valentine’s Date
Since I posted yesterday about what I think about Valentine’s Day, I thought I would share my experience this year. It’s not impossible things will change by the end of the day (my husband could opt to surprise me), but I like how things have gone so far.
We’re on a tight budget, and my husband is not a fan of Valentine’s Day. So rather than worry about it, we go out on a different night. This year it was February 12. Kids at the grandparents anyhow, so it was an easy choice.
A local casino has been having a deal where you join their club and you get a free meal at the buffet. Perfect dinner out for a couple on a tight budget! And a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful buffet. It’s one of those with different kinds of foods at different stations, and an utterly amazing dessert bar.
My husband and I do enjoy a little time at the casino, so I told him he had a $20 budget - less than dinner would have cost if we had purchased it. He did good. Just one of those lucky times where instead of losing the money he earned $30 more. When you’re on a tight budget, any date where you go home with more money than you left with is a really good date. Especially if you had fun.
And yes, I did give him the books I talked about before. He’s amused by them. The perspectives on love, romance and kissing were so different back then. You’d get in some trouble on a personal level if you tried some of it now!
We both had a lot of fun. No high expectations. No gimme, gimme, gimme. Lots of fun.
