Getting Ready for a PRAM?
I just love seeing new technology coming out. The newest one to catch my eye is PRAM, or Phase-Change Random Access Memory. Just the name alone is great.
This one may outdo the currently popular flash memory. It’s just that promising. 30 times faster, able to last 10 times longer. Sweet.
The technology is related to how rewritable CDs are burned, but not identical. It’s a sort of freezing and melting.
If you want details, read up at the article I linked to above. It goes a bit into the technical side of things, but that’s what you’d expect from Science News.
As I understand it, devices with PRAM may come out starting next year. Given the potential flexibility of PRAM, it should be interesting to see what all it replaces.
