I just read that J.R.R. Tolkien’s son has finally finished a new Lord of the Rings novel. Only took him about 30 years to write it, I understand.
Just think of it. That’s quite a standard for anyone to hit. I can see why it might take 30 years to work something up to be up to the high standards that established Tolkien fans will have for this new novel, The Children of Húrin.
Being a science fiction fan, I’m very much looking forward to reading reviews when the book comes out in April. I am very much wondering how well the style will match up with the classic Tolkien stories.

No, I’m not fighting one right now. But I found a press release for an interesting product that helps explain antibiotic resistant staph.
The product caught my eye because my younger sister had a staph infection once. Hers was a somewhat unusual case; that is, she hadn’t been at one of the more common places to get a staph infection. I’ve had a lot of pets through the years. Only thing we have right now is a pair of mice named Gus and Jaq. Parents with young Cinderella fans will understand. I won’t count them on this list.

I’ve been following this story for a time on my own, but I guess it’s about to open. A skywalk extending over the Grand Canyon, that is. With a glass bottom so you can see straight doooooown.
It’s sounds so amazing yet terrifying. I wouldn’t recommend it for those with a deep fear of heights. I think I could cope, since while heights do bug me, so long as there’s a good rail or barrier and something solid under my feet, I’m fine. Read the rest of this entry »
I’m not nearly as bad as my husband. He’s the one with all the CDs that he has downloaded onto his computer. Seems like he always has to worry about how much space he’s taking up between those and his games.
I love the portable drives that this site offers. Color, wonderful color! And you can personalized them too!
For my own purposes, something like this would be pure backup. That’s always a good idea, of course. Since I work at home I have a lot of files that really need to be protected in case of computer self destruction. I don’t consider such a thing to be just a crash - that’s too mild a term for how painful that can be.
