No, I’ve never had an abortion. It would take an extreme circumstance to make me get one or encourage a daughter of mine to get one. I do personally believe that too many abortions happen in this country, and yes, it is killing a baby. But I just can’t support outlawing abortion.

I noticed yesterday or the day before that my customized Google homepage was running rather slow. Then when the various RSS feeds came up, there was a little + next to them. But the first time I tried it, nothing happened.
Seems to be working better now, though. Click on that plus sign and get a preview of the post. It’s actually pretty nice. And it has sped back up reasonably rather than dragging on like it had been earlier.

It’s funny how these things go. I started this blog because it sounded like fun to blog about all the random stuff I think about while working on my other blogs. May as well get it out of my head, right?
But doing it deliberately is much harder than accidentally. I can still think of stuff, like grumbling about how hard it is to think of stuff, but it’s not as easy as I hoped.
No, I’m not giving up or anything. Just mentioning a bit about how frustrating it can be getting into the routine of a new blog.

Just wandered over by Engadget and saw a post on No Look Cooking. Pretty funny notion. Cook without having to look at what you’re cooking to see if it’s done or not.
I agree with one of the comments. How on earth are you going to tell it you want medium or rare or whatever you like? The time at which a meal is finished cooking is very much a matter of personal preference. It’s not just one “done” point for most foods.
I like my meat medium to medium well and my veggies just lightly cooked. If this technology can’t cope with that, what good is it?

Yep, it happened again. We think it’s because the pipes nearest the house come in under concrete rather than under soil. Lots of other folks in the area aren’t getting frozen pipes, after all.
The water in the sandbox was at least a half inch thick this morning, so if the reports say it’s going to be this cold again tonight, we’re going to clean it out and fill it all the way… then get a picture with each of the kids standing on it in the morning. Have to be careful about that one as today’s ice cracked under the weight of my daughter. Take a picture of my son first since he’s lighter and I think we can get away with it.
Ah, for just a sprinkle of rain… err… snow! But the skies are clear as can be, which is a big part of why we’re so cold!

Hey, I’m in the San Diego area. We don’t plan for snow, we plan for rain and maybe the occasional hail. But the past few nights have been cold enough to wonder about snow.
It did snow just a little up in Ramona, a local mountain town. My sister lives up there so I heard about it from her.
Me? I just got frozen pipes on the back side of the house. The front gets the sunlight in winter, so if the pipes froze during the night they defrosted before it mattered. But when I tried to take a shower late this morning I had to wait because the water had frozen in the pipes, so none came out.
That’s just weird! I’ve never had to deal with a frozen pipe in my life before this.
I’m not expecting rain, err… snow… err… precipitation. Whatever you want to call it. The skies here are clear and almost cloud free today. That’s a big part of why it got so cold, of course. No clouds to keep the heat in. But would it ever get interesting to have a cold front move in right now!
