I just love watching the concept of the ultra thin model be questioned. I’ve always worried about folks thinner than I was back in high school, because I was one of the naturally borderline underweight types, and so many models were thinner yet. Good thing I never wanted to be a model, isn’t it?
I was just reading an article about the steps being taken in Italy to discourage the used of excessively thin models. Looks like a pretty good way to handle it. Designers who insist on only using excessively thin models get penalized by getting the undesirable slots at fashion shows and such. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s been cold here lately. This is southern California, so cold means anything that leaves frost on the roof and lawn in the morning. We don’t get snow in my area except maybe once or twice in a lifetime.
But these past couple nights have been really, really cold. My kids have a sandbox that they had been filling with water just for fun. That stuff has been freezing over every night. Even at 10 in the morning, which is generally when I start letting them play outside because it isn’t too cold for a southern Californian wardrobe, there’s still ice in there.
They have a blast with it, though. They break it into chunks and throw it on the patio to watch it shatter. Then they come in for hot chocolate.
Life’s just that easy sometimes when you’re a kid.

Hehehe! Unless I think of something at the last minute, I’m all done!
OK, I could use another stocking stuffer for my husband but I can get by without. He’s doing pretty well on the wrapped gift side of things anyhow. I got inspired this year so instead of my usual struggle I knew exactly what to get him.
Didn’t get him everything he asked for… in fact, nothing he asked for although I did try to find him a plain, unstitched leather belt, which is one of the things he had asked for. No designs on it or anything, he said. Not reversible, etc. Just something he could be a little rough with.

I love shopping at Amazon.com. However, lately I’ve been seeing some insane prices over there, and not in a good way.
I have two kids, so I’ve been noticing it as I do bits of Christmas shopping over there. Some toys have ridiculously HIGH prices. I’m talking double and more other places. Read the rest of this entry »
Watched Mythbusters tonight, a favorite show. I think this might have been a rerun of an episode I’ve missed, as there’s another holiday myth episode later tonight.
They focused a part of the show on burning Christmas trees. Not exactly a myth, as they do admit during the show that there are something like 10,000 Christmas tree fires a year. Read the rest of this entry »
This is going to be the random, potentially fun blog for me. No idea where all I’ll be taking things, so I did a random train of thought for initial categories. No doubt I’ll be adding to them over time.
Expect site and product reviews, wandering through my favorite geek technology and toys. I’ll talk about life, stuff happening in the world… whatever catches my eye when I’m writing for this blog.
